Six Sigma: reducing variation and stabilising industrial processes

The problem Six Sigma addresses

Two products from the same process are never perfectly identical. Six Sigma helps understand this variation and reduce the part that damages quality, cost or lead time.

DMAIC in an industrial project

The DMAIC sequence avoids premature solutions. First clarify the problem and success measure, then verify data quality before looking for causes. Improvements are tested and controls are defined to prevent recurrence.

This logic is useful for recurring defects, dimensional deviations, rework or delivery variation. It complements shop-floor knowledge rather than replacing it.
